MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – China firmly supports Belarus in choosing its own path of development, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said at a meeting with journalists on 29 January, BelTA has learned.
“The Chinese side firmly supports Belarus on the path of development chosen by its people, in accordance with its national interests, and encourages Belarus to successfully implement its important domestic political agenda,” the diplomat emphasized.
“Our countries jointly marked the 80th anniversary of Victory, firmly defending the historically correct view of World War II,” he noted. “The guard of honor of the People’s Liberation Army of China took part in the Victory Parade in Belarus. The Chinese side awarded commemorative medals to many Belarusian veterans or their relatives for their participation in the war of resistance against Japanese invaders.”
Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan stressed that international cooperation between the two countries is becoming increasingly strong and effective. “Belarus and China maintain close ties within multilateral structures such as the UN, SCO, and BRICS, jointly advancing the implementation of the ‘four global initiatives’ and promoting the establishment of the International Mediation Organization,” he said. “The parties continue to provide each other with firm support on issues affecting their core interests, jointly opposing external interference in internal affairs.”
“The Belarusian side reaffirmed its commitment to the One China principle and expressed support for the efforts of the Chinese government in this regard,” the ambassador concluded.
