Tajikistan’s ambassador outlines key features of cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Tajikistan are steadily strengthening their trade and economic cooperation, Bakhtovar Safarzoda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus and Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Tajikistan to the CIS statutory and other bodies, said in an interview with BelTA.

“If we look at the momentun in our cooperation from an economic perspective, then, according to Tajikistan’s statistics, the trade between the countries in 2025 exceeded $222 million, which was 29.2% higher than in 2024. These figures reflect a stable positive trend and confirm the consistent strengthening of trade and economic cooperation,” the ambassador said.

“To provide additional structure to investment cooperation, a working group has been established to develop interaction between the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan and the Economy Ministry of Belarus. Within this framework, issues are being worked out related to establishing joint production facilities, localizing industrial output, transferring technologies, and expanding the participation of Belarusian and Tajik companies in the implementation of investment projects on a mutually beneficial basis,” the head of the diplomatic mission explained.

He also noted that preparations are underway for the first meeting of the Belarus-Tajikistan subcommission on industrial cooperation. “The creation of this mechanism is aimed at building sustainable production chains, deepening industrial integration, and implementing joint projects in priority sectors of the economy. We expect that launching the subcommission’s work will bring cooperation in the industrial sphere to a brand new level,” the ambassador said.
