Samarkand to host CIS meeting on key social, labor policies 

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – The 38th meeting of the CIS Advisory Board on Labor, Employment and Social Security will take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on 30-31 October, the Department for Cooperation in Political, Humanitarian and Social Spheres of the CIS Executive Committee told BelTA.

A preparatory meeting to arrange the event was held at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 20 August. The web-based meeting brought together officials from nine countries, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The labor ministers plan to discuss priority areas for advancing social and labor cooperation within the CIS, address issues of digital transformation in CIS labor markets, review innovations in labor statistics processing and visualization and consider a draft comprehensive program to create a common labor market and regulate labor migration among CIS states.

Special attention will be paid to the social security measures for the participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and persons equated to them in CIS member states, implemented in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War – the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism. The discussion will also focus on promoting active longevity initiatives, introducing new forms of social work for the elderly and supporting people with disabilities.

The meeting also approved a draft emblem for the Advisory Board, which is set to be reviewed at the upcoming session.
