MOSCOW, 26 February (BelTA) – Russia and Belarus cooperate closely and as allies in foreign policy and defense, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
“Russia and Belarus cooperate closely and as allies in foreign policy and defense. Our approaches to current issues on the international agenda are always close or fully aligned. We consistently strive to constructively participate in resolving global and regional problems. We work shoulder to shoulder within the CSTO, CIS, SCO, and other multilateral platforms, including the UN,” the Russian president emphasized.

He also stressed that both countries are jointly resisting sanctions pressure and advocating for the formation of a truly fair multipolar world. A reliable foundation for the alliance between Belarus and Russia is created by the interstate agreement on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State, which entered into force in 2025.
