MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) - The second round of trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine will be held in Abu Dhabi on 4 and 5 February, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, TASS reports.
“We can confirm that this second round [of talks on security] will take place in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and Thursday,” Dmitry Peskov said.
"Indeed, the talks were originally slated for this past Sunday, but the three sides’ timetables needed an extra adjustment," he explained.
He stressed that Moscow remains open to a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian conflict settlement and is ready to carry on with the work in this direction.
The press secretary of the Russian president noted that the Ukrainian settlement is a complex and multi-faceted process. "On some issues, we have certainly moved closer because there have been discussions, conversations. Some issues are easier to find common ground on. There are issues where it is more difficult to find common ground. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to speak of convergence on those matters," he stated.
The first day of security consultations involving representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine took place in Abu Dhabi on 23 January. A second meeting was held on 24 January. According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting proceeded in a constructive and positive atmosphere
