MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. leader Donald Trump will hold another telephone conversation very soon, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing, TASS reports.

“Very soon,” he said when asked when a phone call between the Russian and US leaders would take place following Trump’s talks with Vladimir Zelensky in Florida.

According to him, the Kremlin will be able to assess the Trump-Zelensky talks after receiving the information from the United States of America.

Furthermore, Dmitry Peskov said no phone call between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky was currently under discussion. “There is no discussion of such a conversation at the moment," he said in response to a related question.
Among other things, the press secretary of the Russian president stated that there is growing discontent within the EU towards leaders of countries who are eager to continue the conflict in Ukraine and are digging into their pockets to fund it. "It is obvious that there is serious discontent with the fact that more and more EU leaders are eager to continue the war and reach into the pockets of their taxpayers," he noted. “And this discontent is growing,” the Kremlin spokesman emphasized.

Trump welcomed Zelensky to his Mar-a-Lago residence near West Palm Beach, Florida, on 28 December. Ahead of his meeting with Zelensky, Trump held a phone call with Putin. After the talks with Zelensky, the White House host stated that Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine are currently “much closer” to reaching an agreement than ever before.
Fox News, citing a source, reported that “Sunday's talks between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky could pave the way for the first call between Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin in more than five year.”
