MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko enjoys a great respect in Serbia, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Jovan Janjic told the media, BelTA has learned.
"We always emphasize that we have friendly relations with Belarus and especially with President Aleksandr Lukashenko," Jovan Janjix said. “Aleksandr Lukashenko is extremely popular in Serbia and enjoys a great respect. We know him known as a leader who successfully governs his country. He is a great friend of Serbia, which he has shown in many circumstances. He was the only president who came to Belgrade during the NATO aggression."
"We appreciate the support of Belarus for Serbia in international organizations," the vice speaker added. "Our relations with Belarus are friendly, and we want to take them further."
On 29 October, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko met with the Serbian parliamentary delegation. The delegation includes Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Jovan Janjic, deputies from various political parties, eight of whom are members of the friendship group with Belarus, as well as representatives of Serbian business and clergy. All in all, the delegation consists of more than 30 people.

The parties discussed topical issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation and prospects for building up mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

During the meeting an agreement was reached to intensify the activities of parliamentary friendship groups.
