Novitsky: Belarus-Germany friendship goes on against all odds

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – The friendship between the Belarusian and German peoples has not been interrupted despite difficult times, Chairman of the Belarus-Germany Friendship Society Sergei Novitsky said at the 12th meeting of the sister cities of Belarus and Germany in the House of Friendship, BelTA has learned.

Welcoming the German delegation, Sergei Novitsky emphasized: “This is not just another meeting, but a wonderful tradition of communication between friends. It is especially gratifying that this tradition continues despite difficult times and high turbulence in today's world.”

The chairman of the Belarus-Germany  Friendship Society noted that the centuries-old wisdom of peoples will remain the foundation for cooperation and friendship.

He expressed confidence that friendship between people and between municipal administrations of the two countries will continue to strengthen.

The 12th meeting of sister cities of Belarus and Germany was held under the topic “Historical Past and Bridges to the Future”. It included a plenary session and sections in Minsk and Zaslavl.

Representatives of eight German and ten Belarusian cities took part in the event. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Chairman of the Board of the Twin Cities public association Boris Batura, the German delegation was led by Deputy Chairman of the Federal Union of German Societies West - East Heinz Wehmeier.
