MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) - Latvia has introduced questionnaires-filters for persons entering the country from CIS countries. It is akin to a medieval quarantine for “undesirable elements”, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, BelTA has learned.
“Estonia has declared ‘electoral apartheid’, depriving Belarusians and Russians of the right to vote in municipal elections. It looks as if the civil status is measured by the passport,” the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“These measures disguised as security rhetoric are yet another example of dividing people along national lines. We know from history what it leads to,” the ministry said. “While the Baltic states are hiding behind the ‘Iron Curtain’, Belarus has introduced visa-free travel for the EU nationals by the decision of President Aleksandr Lukashenko. We are open to visitors: come for 30 days, explore the country, build business, have a vacation.”
“We would like to reiterate one thing for Belarusians: you have your own land, your home, your homeland, where you will be provided with a full range of rights and opportunities. Vote with your feet!” the ministry said.
