MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) - Following official talks with the Belarusian head of state, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presented Aleksandr Lukashenko with a dagger and an Arab burnous. Footage of the gift exchange ceremony was aired on Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
In turn, the Belarusian head of state brought gifts for his Algerian counterpart: a replica of the famous Slutsk sash, a saber featuring Belarusian symbols, linen products, a tea chest with fragrant honey and jam, and sweets.

“These are our sweets, marshmallows. You will like them. They are not as sweet as yours,” stated the Belarusian leader. “The honey and jam are prepared according to Belarusian recipes. Very healthy!”
Aleksandr Lukashenko, for his part, departed Algeria with a cold blade and a burnous - a cloak made of camel wool, considered a symbol of nobility and dignity. In Arab countries, the burnous was historically worn by men of high standing, and today it is used primarily for ceremonial purposes.

Abdelmadjid Tebboune also presented the president of Belarus with traditional Mediterranean delicacies.
