MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Belarus on an official visit. The aircraft carrying the Iranian head of state landed at Minsk National Airport, BelTA has learned.
Upon landing, Masoud Pezeshkian was greeted by Belarusian Industry Minister and Co-Chair of the Belarus-Iran Economic Cooperation Commission Andrei Kuznetsov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich, Belarusian Ambassador to Iran Dmitry Koltsov, and Iranian Ambassador to Belarus Alireza Sanei.

According to the press service of the Belarusian president, Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to hold negotiations with Masoud Pezeshkian on 20 August. The heads of state will meet at the Palace of Independence for both one-on-one and expanded-format talks, culminating in the signing of bilateral documents aimed at strengthening partnership between the two countries.
Aleksandr Lukashenko and Masoud Pezeshkian are expected to discuss Belarus-Iran cooperation in trade, investment, and industrial collaboration, implementation of joint initiatives in science, technology, and education, as well as coordination within international organizations including the EAEU, SCO, BRICS, and the UN. Regional and international security will also be high on the agenda of the talks.
Initially, Masoud Pezeshkian was supposed to visit Minsk to participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting, which took place in the Belarusian capital at the end of June. However, due to the escalation of the conflict with Israel, the Iranian president’s visit was postponed, and his address at the EAEU summit was delivered via a pre-recorded video.
At the beginning of the year, the 17th meeting of the Belarus-Iran Economic Cooperation Commission was held. “We are not only interested in supplying Belarusian agricultural machinery, like tractors, combines, and implements, but also in partnering with Iranian firms to localize the production of this advanced equipment, transferring our technology and expertise directly to Iranian sites,” Aleksandr Yefimov, the then Industry Minister, told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting.
Therefore, Belarus-Iran cooperation holds a lot of promise. In its time, Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Tehran was described as a starting point for building deeper relations between the two states. The upcoming talks in Minsk also promise concrete results.
