Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh
MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – International law and its principles are currently under threat, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said at the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security in Minsk on 28 October, BelTA has learned.
“We are living in a historical time, and what we see today is not peace but rather war and conflicts,” the deputy minister noted. He drew attention to the fact that more than 10% of GDP in some countries is being allocated to military needs.
“Many states have reached an unprecedented level of spending on their military industries, and this is a cause for concern. We are witnessing chaos – political, legal… We live in a time when war is in fact possible, and everyone understands what is happening now. Some issues that should be resolved calmly between countries are now being politicized,” Saeed Khatibzadeh emphasized.
“If we want to live in peace, we need to think together about how to move away from the wrong mentality and illusions about order. We must change the paradigm,” he said.
He also declared Iran’s readiness to develop strategic partnerships with Russia, Belarus, and other countries.
