MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Myanmar is showing significant growth, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said at the 2nd meeting of the joint Belarus-Myanmar committee on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

He recalled that in Minsk on 7 March, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held talks with Chairman of Myanmar's State Administration Council, Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing. Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that during this visit Belarus and Myanmar outlined the foundations and main priorities of their bilateral relations.
“The implementation of the agreements has directly influenced the development of trade and economic cooperation between our countries. This has led to significant growth in trade across a wide range of products in recent years. The volume of goods purchased from Myanmar has also increased, demonstrating the advantages of mutually beneficial trade between our two countries,” the minister emphasized.

According to Maxim Ryzhenkov, the package of agreements covers a wide range of areas from agriculture to manufacturing industry, from education to people-to-people contacts. He assured that the Belarusian side is eager to further strengthen cooperation with Myanmar in all areas and is open to any interesting proposals from Myanmar’s partners.
