
MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) - Belarus is keen to further relations with Botswana in a wide range of areas, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said as he met with Botswana’s Minister of International Relations Phenyo Butale, BelTA learned.
The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs stressed that Belarus is eager to further deepen relations with Botswana in a wide range of areas. He also thanked the Botswanan minister for accepting the invitation to visit Belarus and quickly acting on it.

For his part, Phenyo Butale noted that his country has a special interest in promoting trade and economic relations and developing cooperation in agriculture. Botswana is ready to serve as a gateway for Belarusian goods to the African market.
During the visit, the ministers held talks and signed a joint statement.

Intensification of cooperation with African countries is one of the priorities set by the head of state. More recently, in June of this year, Maksim Ryzhenkov held a series of meetings with delegations of African countries - Botswana, Ghana and Mozambique, headed by the ministers of agriculture of these countries. Agriculture is the most important priority for most countries of the region, and the Belarusian experience coupled with advanced technologies in agriculture is of great interest to them. On this basis, they are eager to promote cooperation in other sectors.
The work to intensify relations continues at all levels, and the visit of the Botswanan foreign minister is a confirmation of this. There is a good opportunity for both sides to move from intentions to concrete steps to move cooperation forward.
