CIS experts agree on humanitarian program 2024-2026

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - The meeting of experts on the harmonization of humanitarian issues in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2024, 2025 and 2026 took place at the CIS headquarters, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee and the Coordinating Council of the International Union of the Commonwealth of Public Organizations of Veterans (Pensioners) of Independent States.

The key issue on the agenda of the meeting was the discussion of the proposal of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly to declare 2025 the year of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War - the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The experts agreed on draft decisions of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council and the CIS Heads of State Council to declare 2024 - Year of Volunteers, 2025 - Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War - Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism, 2026 - Year of Health Protection. It was decided to send the materials of the expert group meeting to the CIS countries for internal approval.
