MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – China will continue to work with Belarus and other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to enhance the coordination of digital policies, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said at the readings “Creating a new digital society” at Minsk’s House of Friendship on 10 September, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus is implementing a state program on digital development. It is aimed at applying information and communication technologies (ICT) and advanced production technologies in economic and social development to improve people’s quality of life. This aligns with China’s original aspirations in developing a digital society,” the diplomat emphasized.
“Both our countries place a high priority on digitalization, working closely together under the framework of the joint digital silk road initiative. We are significant participants and contributors to international digital cooperation,” he continued. “As the SCO chair in 2024-2025, China will work alongside Belarus and other member states to further strengthen the network of interconnectedness, consisting of digital infrastructure, to enhance the coordination of digital policies of all countries, and to foster deeper exchanges and contacts between digital civilizations. Furthermore, they will promote the creation of a digital economy cooperation platform and joint leaders’ statement on strengthening the digital economy, as well as accelerate the establishment of a digital community with a shared future.”
The ambassador also noted that the digital society represents the future of social development, and youth is the main force behind the future development of society. “We hope that our talented youth will actively share their valuable ideas about the new digital society and contribute proposals on exchange and digital development cooperation between China and Belarus,” he said.
