MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – Belarus wants to suggest holding forums of regions to Kazakhstan similar to forums of regions of Belarus and Russia, newly appointed Ambassador to Kazakhstan Aleksei Bogdanov told reporters on 14 January, BelTA has learned.
According to the diplomat, when making personnel decisions the president gave an instruction to promote and expand interaction with regions of Kazakhstan. “Of course, it will require a lot of effort. We are doing quite well in the capital city and in Almaty, but we have not yet been able to make substantial progress in other regions. We need to work on it,” the diplomat said.
“Perhaps we will try a format of work similar to the forum of regions of Belarus and Russia. We will definitely make such an offer to the leadership of Kazakhstan. After all, we see a positive effect from inter-regional contacts with our ally Russia. Of course, we are destined to strengthen this interaction with the fraternal Republic of Kazakhstan."
“After all, today it is very difficult for our countries to survive geopolitically – there are attempts to drive a wedge between us, to tear us away from each other. Therefore, our task is to maintain long-standing cultural interaction and human contacts, and to ramp up trade on the basis of this strong affinity,” added Aleksei Bogdanov. He drew attention to the fact that Kazakhstan is among the top ten buyers of Belarusian goods. Since 2021, bilateral trade has hovered at the level of over $ 1 billion. Belarusian export has amounted to $800-900 million for several years, and, according to the diplomat, it needs to reach $ 1 billion, such a task has been set by the head of state. This is to be done by increasing the supply of food products, expanding a dealer network, and scaling up industrial cooperation. “It is necessary to give a boost to our assembly factories there [in Kazakhstan]. We need to jointly produce vehicles. Gomselmash and Minsk Tractor Works (we have three assembly factories there) are doing very well. MAZ, Mogilevliftmash, and other enterprises that are of interest to our counterparts need to take it up a notch,” the ambassador said. In this regard, he also emphasized broad opportunities for re-exporting jointly manufactured products to third countries.
