Belarus, Tajikistan welcome growth in trade of over 300%

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) - During a working visit to Tajikistan to attend a meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council on 18 May, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin. BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign ministers discussed topical issues of Belarus-Tajikistan relations, cooperation between Minsk and Dushanbe in international organizations. "The parties welcomed growth in trade in 2020 which amounted to 307.7% over 2019. The ministers exchanged views on the prospects for strengthening economic ties, including cooperation in industry and briefed each other on the progress in the implementation of the agreements reached after the meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Tajik Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in April 2021," the ministry said. The parties noted that participation of business communities of both countries in exhibition events held in Belarus and Tajikistan will contribute to the development of cooperation.

A plan of ministerial consultations for 2021-2022 was signed following the meeting.
