Belarus, Pakistan coordinate interaction in Shanghai Cooperation Organization

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa has met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Aisha-Farooqui (National Coordinator for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed the bilateral agenda with the focus on interaction in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the schedule of contacts. The diplomats believe that the established format of relations will help boost political, trade and economic contacts between Belarus and Pakistan.

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were established on 3 February 1994. The opening of Belarus' embassy in Pakistan and Pakistan's diplomatic mission in Belarus gave a strong impetus to bilateral relations.
