MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) - The 9th meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council on International Law at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs took place on 18 November under the chairmanship of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was attended by permanent members of the council and invited guests from the National Center of Legislation and Legal Research, the Justice Ministry, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, deans of faculties teaching international law disciplines, scholars from leading Belarusian universities, Chairman of the International Arbitration Court at the BelCCI Yan Funk, as well as representatives of international organizations - Chairman of the CIS Economic Court German Nurbayev and senior officials from the legal department of the CIS Executive Committee.
Participants reviewed a range of issues concerning the strengthening and development of international law education in Belarusian educational institutions. They heard reports and held discussions on topics related to the activities of the CIS Economic Court, the development of the mediation institute in international law and at the national level. Particular attention was paid to a review of the work of the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly and the UN International Law Commission.
During the council meeting, employees of the Law Faculty of the Belarusian State University were awarded honors in connection with the faculty's 100th anniversary. For their long-term work in training legal personnel, developing and popularizing scientific knowledge of international law, and their fruitful work as part of the Scientific Advisory Council, the team of the BSU Law Faculty was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dean of the BSU Law Faculty Andrei Shidlovsky was awarded the medal “100 Years of the Belarusian Diplomatic Service.
