MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) - Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov had a telephone conversation with Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The conversation took place at the initiative of the Turkmen side, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties discussed topical issues of Belarusian-Turkmen cooperation, and also international and regional agenda.
Special attention was paid to the upcoming Third UN International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan in early August this year. "Maksim Ryzhenkov noted that the conference is of interest to Belarus, since Belarus, being a landlocked country, faces all the challenges that are characteristic of other states in a similar geographical position," the ministry said.
The parties reaffirmed commitment to strengthening interaction between the foreign ministries: enhancing political dialogue, holding regular ministerial consultations and coordinating approaches on key issues of the international and regional agenda.
