MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - Today the global geopolitical landscape is undergoing profound transformations, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic Sergei Aleinik said at a joint meeting of the foreign affairs commissions of the upper houses of the Parliaments of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 13 November, BelTA has learned.
"We have a fairly rich agenda for our meeting. We are set to discuss the coordination of joint actions in inter-parliamentary structures and international organisations and to exchange experience in cooperating with the parliaments of the countries of the global majority, as we call them now, namely with the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Today we will discuss the priorities of Eurasian security. This topic is of particular relevance both for our countries and for the Greater Eurasia region," Sergei Aleinik said. “I think today will be a good opportunity to listen to some preliminary results of the second conference on Eurasian security held in Minsk. We will discuss the preparation of a number of events dedicated to the upcoming great date - the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. It is important to note that this year we marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Sergei Aleinik noted that the appropriate commissions keep in regular touch. "It is very important exchange views, compare notes on topical issues of the international agenda, especially now, when the global geopolitical landscape is undergoing profound transformations," Sergei Aleinik stressed.
