ABU DHABI, 21 May (BelTA - Emirates News Agency) - Emirati boat
building, maintenance and repair company Blue Gulf Group highlighted its
latest advancements in smart boat technology during the “Make it in the
Emirates”. Founded in 2017, the family-run company specialises in the
manufacturing and maintenance of boats and ships.
The company spokesperson Dana Al Qubaisi said Blue Gulf Group is developing a new project incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into boat operations. The initiative, dubbed “USV,” enables remote-controlled vessel operation and reflects the company’s ongoing investment in AI-driven marine solutions.
In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Qubaisi noted that Blue Gulf Group currently offers a range of “catamaran” boats in 17-foot, 23-foot, and 43-foot models, with new sizes under development. The boats are constructed from lightweight materials such as carbon fibre and fibreglass, allowing for high-speed performance.
She added that the participation in "Make it in the Emirates" also provided the company a platform to showcase its boat capabilities, where over 500 marine maintenance projects have been completed to date.
Regarding AI integration, Mohammed Al Marar, Field Manager at Blue Cat, a subsidiary of the group, confirmed the successful trial of an unmanned vessel capable of withstanding challenging sea conditions, including high waves and strong winds. The prototype passed speed and payload endurance tests and has attracted interest from potential clients.
He also revealed that Blue Gulf Group is expanding its partnerships, including ongoing collaboration with ADNOC and other stakeholders, with expectations of further growth in the sector.
