A rainbow painted the skies over Minsk, Vitebsk, and Grodno after a warm summer rain. As often happens in summer, sunny and warm weather gave way to a cool spell and showers. While hurrying to find shelter from the rain, city residents caught sight of the rainbow against a moody sunset sky. According to folk beliefs, an evening rainbow is a sign of good weather to come.
A rare double rainbow emerged over Grodno. There is a simple scientific explanation for this: it occurs when light is reflected twice inside raindrops.
