BREST, 1 August (BelTA) – The second meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Oryol Oblast will take place in Russia on 4 August, the press service of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.
A delegation led by Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik, who co-chairs the working group, will travel to Orel. Representatives of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the Brest City Executive Committee, as well as enterprises and organizations of the country, including from Brest Oblast, will participate in the meeting.
“The development of inter-regional ties is consistent and multifaceted. Ahead of the second meeting of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Orel Oblast, we see that the roadmap adopted in Brest last year has gained tangible substance,” noted Pyotr Parkhomchik.
The parties will review interim results of their cooperation and discuss the implementation of plans outlined during the first working group meeting. In particular, attention will be paid to collaboration in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, culture, sports, and education. An agreement on establishing sister-city ties between Brest and Oryol is to be signed.
“This is an important step that will elevate inter-regional and business cooperation to a new level. We are bringing concrete proposals to expand economic partnerships, step up industrial cooperation, and launch new logistics and investment projects. I am confident that the results of this visit will mark a major milestone for closer and more substantive cooperation between our regions,” said the Brest Oblast governor.
The Belarusian delegation’s program includes visits to a number of enterprises, including the site where the Trading House of the Republic of Belarus will be set up. The opening of a Gomselmash multi-brand center in Oryol has also been announced. Additionally, the Belarusian delegation will participate in ceremonial events marking the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Oryol and Oryol Oblast from Nazi invaders.
