VITEBSK, 4 January (BelTA) – In the upcoming five-year period, Vitebsk Oblast will implement a number of breakthrough high-tech projects, the press service of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.
“The five-year program for the socio-economic development of Vitebsk Oblast takes into account national priorities and regional specifics. Growth points will include manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and transport-logistics services. A pool of more than 450 projects has already been formed for the five-year plan, and sources of their financing are being worked out,” Vitebsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Subbotin remarked.
He noted that the implementation of several breakthrough high-tech projects is already underway. “This includes the creation of a modern import-substitution production of medical and veterinary drugs at BelVituniFarm, construction of a cellulose plant in Novopolotsk, a cross-laminated panel plant in Tolochin District, and the establishment of new production facilities at machine-tool, mechanical engineering, and instrument-making enterprises,” Aleksandr Subbotin said.
Project implementation is being carried out in cooperation with scientific organizations, while technology parks are becoming platforms for introducing and commercializing developments. “Plans include creating such a technology park at Vityaz in Vitebsk, and expanding the capabilities of the Polotsk State University technology park, taking into account the competencies of Izmeritel,” the governor added.
Regarding the agro-industrial complex, Aleksandr Subbotin emphasized that priorities include improving efficiency through adherence to technological and production discipline, and maintaining basic order – issues repeatedly highlighted by the head of state.
“Plans for the five-year period include building modern dairy complexes, modernizing the poultry industry, and implementing greenhouse construction projects. A joint venture with a Chinese investor has already been registered in Orsha District,” the governor said.
