MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - This year, companies from 53 regions of Russia participated in trading at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. The amount of transactions made by them in January-October rose 4 times, reaching $839 million, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.
"Mordovia, for example, joined the exchange trade with Belarus quite recently and concluded first exchange contracts in September of this year. In particular, a trial batch of frozen beef was sold to Mordovia and a batch of power cord was sold to Belarus. In the future, more efforts will go into expanding the commodity nomenclature, primarily by intensifying interaction with local business communities," the BUCE press service noted.
Within the framework of the national project "Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" implemented by the Russian government, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange held a workshop on the use of exchange instruments for export-oriented small and medium-sized businesses of Mordovia in Saransk. The event, organized by the regional entrepreneurship support fund, brought together about 30 representatives of the business community of Mordovia interested in establishing trade relations with Belarusian enterprises.
"Recently, workshops and seminars have been the main channels for raising the awareness of Russian business about the opportunities and advantages of the exchange platform. As a rule, such events are carried out with the assistance of regional export support centers or chambers of commerce and industry, which provides direct access to the target audience and, accordingly, yields maximum effectiveness. Thanks to such cooperation, in less than a year, the exchange managed to attract about 400 new participants from Russia," the BUCE press service said.
