MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – It is important that the Union State should consolidate its efforts on mechanical engineering, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting with Director General of Russia’s Kirovsky Zavod group Sergey Serebryakov in Minsk on 21 November, BelTA has learned.
"The machinery produced at Petersburg Tractor Plant and Belarusian mechanical engineering enterprises is mutually complementary. We discussed a number of ideas for further consolidation of our efforts, including within the framework of the Machine Builders' Union," the prime minister noted.
Roman Golovchenko noted that during his visit to St. Petersburg in October, he had examined the production facilities, the plans and approaches of the company's management. The parties discussed cooperation with Belarusian suppliers of parts and components.
"In recent years, we have significantly intensified our cooperation. We are grateful that you appreciate the competencies of Belarusian manufacturers. First of all, it concerns auto components’ enterprises. The work on this track is gaining momentum. We are constantly launching new products. We also spent a lot of time discussing plans to promote cooperation and join our efforts in the common machinery market of the Union State, which is currently facing a number of internal and external difficulties due to the growing competition," the prime minister said.
Considering the potential of Belarus and Russia, in particular Petersburg Tractor Plant, the parties need to move forward and join forces to act as reliable suppliers primarily in the domestic market, Roman Golovchenko believes.
