PM: Belarus, China preparing package of agreements on cooperation in economy

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) - Belarus and China are preparing a package of agreements and arrangements on economic cooperation, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui in Minsk on 14 August, BelTA has learned.

"I would like to take this opportunity and welcome you to the hospitable Belarusian land. I have heard the most favorable reviews about the work and professionalism of your agency from members of the Belarusian government and, in particular, from the minister of foreign affairs of Belarus. It is very important that you arrived in the run-up to the visit of Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang to Belarus. As I was told you arrived in Belarus with good news. This gives us the opportunity to qualitatively prepare an economic package of agreements for a meeting with my esteemed colleague," Roman Golovchenko said.

He noted that Belarus and China view the current stage of relations as very important. "First of all, the new status of relations between our countries, which was formalized by the heads of state last year, should be filled with new economic content. The Belarusian and Chinese sides have prepared an impressive package of agreements and arrangements for signing. We believe that these documents will consolidate the plans for a promising partnership between Belarus and China in key areas of our cooperation, which are economy, trade, manufacturing sector and technology, science, education, transport, digital development, green economy and regional cooperation," the prime minister stressed.

Roman Golovchenko added that the Chinese government supported Belarus’ proposal to dedicate the next thematic year to cooperation in science, technology and innovation.

"Belarus is particularly interested in signing a detailed plan of action to align the industrial policies of our countries within the framework of the comprehensive strategy for joint industrial development during the upcoming visit of the premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. We believe that this plan should become a program document that will fill the new status of our relations, the status of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership, with concrete practical content," Roman Golovchenko said.
"Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, global turbulence, international instability, bilateral contacts between Belarus and China have been growing. I believe that your personal support and the work of your agency to promote the most important projects of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation make a huge contribution to this," the head of government noted.
