MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Belarus' light industry development strategy should be aimed at expanding the product assortment and increasing the competitiveness of the domestic light industry products, Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at a joint meeting of the board of the Economy Ministry and the State Committee on Science and Technology. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom. The participants of the meeting discussed the draft of the light industry development strategy until 2035, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
According to Yuri Chebotar, in order to achieve sustainable and dynamic growth in the industry, it is not enough just to upgrade equipment. “The strategy should rely on projects based on in-depth processing of our own raw materials, cooperation with other industries and private business; its targets should be aligned with the targets of the National Sustainable Development Strategy 2040. Higher competitiveness of products should be achieved not only through pricing, but also through using a smart marketing strategy based on profound understanding of consumer preferences and global market trends. Belarusian manufacturers should make the most of such powerful competitive advantages as local production, high quality of goods and transparency of their origin,” the minister noted.
