Krutoi: Union State will work out a new list of innovative import substituting projects

SMOLENSK, 28 May (BelTA) - Work is underway in the Union State of Belarus and Russia to draft its economic model, Head of Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi said at a meeting of the High Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State in Smolensk on 28 May, BelTA has learned.

“As part of the implementation of the provision of our agreement for 2024-2026, the next package of plans comprising 310 measures has been adopted. A total of 101, or one third, have already been successfully implemented. We are in the active phase of work on the draft economic model of the Union State,” Dmitry Krutoi said.

In his words, with the appointment of Sergei Glazyev as State Secretary of the Union State, several new interesting ideas on the development of the integration association for the near future have been brought about. “Today at the meeting with Alexey Logvinovich [Overchuk, Russian Deputy Prime Minister] we determined that the image of the future of the Union State in terms of the main contours of integration should be formed today by all of us. A new list of innovative import-substituting projects will be developed for this purpose. The 27 projects that were approved earlier are being successfully implemented. Financing instruments will be selected to provide money for these projects,” the head of the Belarus President Administration explained.

According to Dmitry Krutoi, the work on the implementation of the decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on a common industrial policy has been launched. “An agreed list of programs for mutual access to state support tools was signed in January. We expect that from 1 June it will be applied in some sectoral markets, and our Belarusian producers in Russia and Russian producers in Belarus will be fully connected to these tools,” he said.

“We have signed two roadmaps to develop the agreement on the introduction of electronic digital signatures. We continue to monitor this topic so that our suppliers - both Russian and Belarusian - get mutual access and can fully participate in e-procurement within our countries using the national electronic digital signatures. It is important, of course, to move to the application of this tool in practice, and our regulators, are moving towards this stated goal in every possible way,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
