MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) - Joint innovation is crucial for the EAEU countries, Chairman of the EEC Board Bakytzhan Sagintayev said at the panel discussion “Synergy in the EAEU’s Real Sector: Responding to Today’s Challenges” at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, BelTA learned.
The EAEU approved the industrial cooperation guidelines until 2030. “The potential is very high. First of all, we are talking about the cooperation between industrial complexes, including through the localization of joint production in the EAEU countries. We have a new mechanism for financing industrial cooperation. The first projects in railway engineering and agriculture have already been launched,” Bakytzhan Sagintayev said and suggested a very careful approach to selecting joint projects and financing the most advanced, innovative areas.
Another important area is industrial and technological cooperation, strengthening interaction between the EAEU member states in order to introduce innovations and ensure large-scale use of digital technologies. “The Eurasian Digital Forum is an annual event to discuss our joint movement in this direction. Such forums should be used very actively. I am pleased that we held a forum on this topic in Yerevan last year. The more often we pay attention to this, the more opportunities we will have to move in this direction,” he noted.
In his opinion, it is also important to pay attention to the development of cooperation in export markets. “Systemic work is underway on promising areas of cooperation in the industries with high cooperation and export potential. We have adopted a number of recommendations and worked on them with all the founding countries of our Union. There is cooperation between science, business, and state institutions. 18 technology platforms have been established and are currently in operation. The work continues, a map of industrialization has been put together. There are 270 projects in 31 industries. If all of them achieve the desired result, then we will solve the tasks set before us by the heads of our states.
St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a leading global platform for members of the business community to meet and discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world as a whole. This year’s edition features representatives of 140 countries.
