In figures: How life in Belarus changed in recent years

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – The Labor and Social Security Ministry of Belarus has shown using figures and facts how the life of Belarusians has changed in recent years, BelTA learned from the ministry's press service.

Household incomes in Belarus increased in 2021-2024. Wages almost doubled, and wages of public sector employees rose 1.7 times. The minimum wage also went up 1.7 times.

Over the same period, the average retirement pension for a non-working pensioner grew 1.7 times. In December 2020, the average pension was Br511.34, while in December 2024 it amounted to Br851.58. In February 2025, pensions increased by 10% on average up to Br932.

Over the four years, benefits for families raising children under three years of age increased almost two-fold.

At present, the number of low-income households is one of the lowest in the world - 3.5%. On average, the government spends about 40% of the budget on social services.

The unemployment rate among people of working age, calculated according to the ILO methodology, decreased from 3.8% in 2021 to 3.1% in 2024.

The number of families raising three or more children is on the rise. As of 1 January 2025, there were almost 123,000 such families, up by 9.2% from 1 January 2021. This is partly due to extensive support provided to such families by the government. For example, over this period, family capital increased almost 1.5 times from 2020 up to Br33,275 on 1 January 2025.

In addition, the government is expanding the coverage of people with social services. The number of the elderly and the disabled who received social services in 2024 amounted to 186,700 people, up by 22% over 2021.
