MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Libya shows interest in Belarusian machinery and agricultural technologies, Field Marshal and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Belqasim Haftar said during a meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Minsk on 18 February, BelTA has learned.
The Libyan military leader stressed that he is happy to have the opportunity to discuss the cooperation between the two countries with the Belarusian government. He emphasized that under the leadership of President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarus has achieved great results in economy, including in manufacturing and agricultural industries. "Belarus is an example for us. Despite the difficult international situation, your country is moving forward," he said.

According to him, during the meeting with the Belarusian president, an agreement has been reached to develop cooperation in various areas. As Khalifa Belqasim Haftar emphasized, Belarus and Libya will be able to achieve common goals thanks to their cooperation.
In particular, he expressed interest in agricultural projects. “We have vast territories, water reserves, suitable climate. We are interested in adopting the Belarusian experience in the agrarian sector. We can use your tractors, other farm machines for the agrarian development of Libya. This will allow us to get a large harvest of grain crops. We will even be able to export them to third countries. The demand for grain crops in Africa, in Europe is increasing every year, so we are ready to develop the agricultural sector and ensure food security,” Khalifa Belqasim Haftar said.
