
MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) - In August 2025, individuals in Belarus sold $176.3 million worth of foreign currency more than they purchased, BelTA learned from the statistics released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).
In August 2025, individuals purchased the equivalent of $1.088 billion in cash and cashless forms and sold $1.264 billion worth of foreign currency. In January-August 2025, individuals sold $1,022 million worth of foreign currency more than they purchased.
In August, Belarusian resident companies were net purchasers of foreign currency. Based on the data of the National Bank, the commercial entities bought $250 million worth of currency more than they sold. In August legal entities purchased the equivalent $3.357 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $3.107 billion.
In January-August 2025, foreign currency purchases by legal entities exceeded sales by $1.439 billion.
