Foreign currency sales exceed purchases by $118.1m in Belarus in May

 MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - In May 2024 individuals in Belarus sold $118.1 million worth of foreign currency more than they purchased, BelTA learned from the statistics released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

In May individuals bought the equivalent of $933.1million in cash and cashless forms and sold $1,051.1 million worth of foreign currency. In January-May foreign currency sales by individuals exceeded purchases by $464.3 million.
 
Purchases of foreign currency by Belarusian commercial entities exceeded foreign currency sales in May 2024. Based on the data of the National Bank, the commercial entities bought $383 million worth of currency more than they sold. In May 2024 Belarus’ legal entities bought a total of $2.669 billion worth of foreign currency and sold $2.286 billion.

In January-May foreign currency purchases by commercial entities exceeded sales by $1,042.0 million.
