MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Oman are working on a large‑scale agricultural project, Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov told journalists following his report to the Belarusian head of state on 8 October, BelTA has learned.
“We are developing a major agricultural project in Braslav District together with an Omani investor. We have some great ideas and clear goals. At this stage, we are working through the details and assessing what can be achieved. Several options are under consideration. The main point is that Oman faces a shortage of food products [as its agricultural sector is not able to fully meet the country’s needs]. Belarus, on the other hand, has all the opportunities to produce food products Oman requires,” he said.
As BelTA reported earlier, Yuri Nazarov briefed Aleksandr Lukashenko on this topic in furtherance of the recent talks between the Belarusian president and the Sultan of Oman. A large-scale joint project in agriculture is being considered. It has been proposed to implement this project in Vitebsk Oblast, using the experience of agricultural enterprises in Braslav District that are part of the system of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate. Yuri Nazarov has been tasked with studying the practical aspects of implementing this project.
