MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) - Approximately 374,000 passenger cars have been produced since the founding of BELGEE, Gennady Svidersky, BELGEE Director, said in an interview to the STV channel, BelTA has learned.
The plant currently employs 2,500 people. The production management system and the quality management system have been automated. “This can be scaled up in the machine-building industry,” Gennady Svidersky said. “All credit obligations are being fulfilled strictly on time and even ahead of schedule.”
One of the key areas in the development of passenger car manufacturing is the production of vehicles running on new types of fuel. BELGEE is collaborating with scientists on this matter. The goal has been set to increase localization.
“BELGEE is a licensed production operation. Our partner is the company Geely. We offer modern models to the Belarusian market,” said Gennady Svidersky.
According to him, localization issues are complex. Competencies were developed during the implementation of the project to create a Belarusian electric vehicle. This is necessary in order to move forward.
“We need to establish, perhaps, an engineering design center that will possess the competencies, algorithms, programs, and electronic control units. This is the path we must take, together with science,” said Gennady Svidersky.
As BelTA reported earlier, the president of Belarus set the task of increasing the output of electric transport at the Belarusian People’s Congress. “It’s time for BELGEE to raise the bar and ensure the production of at least 10,000 domestic electric vehicles and hybrids per year,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
