MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) will offer its trading platform to producers from Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia who want to sell their products to Belarus, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

Working through BUCE will allow Kaliningrad exporters to reduce time and cut costs while entering the Belarusian market and will provide direct access to a wide range of consumers representing various industries in Belarus. “Currently, 86 business entities of Kaliningrad Oblast are accredited at BUCE. More than half of them participate in exchange trading and conclude transactions on a regular basis. Imports to Belarus dominate the structure of trade. In January - May 2025, Kaliningrad Oblast ranks fourth among all regions of the Russian Federation represented on BUCE,” the press service said.

The exchange trade between Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast was discussed during an online seminar for small and medium-sized businesses of Kaliningrad Oblast on 29 May. The event was organized in cooperation with the Kaliningrad Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of the Russian Entrepreneurship Week. It sought to inform the business community of the region about the possibilities of using the exchange mechanism in foreign trade.

According to the participants of the online seminar, the agro-industrial complex has the biggest potential in increasing the exchange trade between Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast. Thus, BUCE plans to attract Kaliningrad suppliers of grain and leguminous crops and producers of high-protein feed for cattle with the assistance of the regional chamber of commerce and industry.

According to the press service of BUCE, after the online seminar, a number of enterprises of the oil and fat industry of Kaliningrad Oblast announced their plans to get accreditation and sell grain and oilseeds on the BUCE platform.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
