MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ National Statistical Committee (Belstat) is to improve its GDP calculation methods, Chairwoman of the National Statistical Committee Inna Medvedeva told BelTA.
A key priority for the National Statistical Committee is to elaborate a development strategy for state statistics bodies for the next five-year period. “Like all state bodies, Belstat is preparing a development strategy for state statistics. It will include matters such as conducting the population census and changing the approaches to GDP calculation,” Inna Medvedeva explained.
This year has seen the approval of a revised international statistical standard, the System of National Accounts 2025 (2025 SNA), adopted at the 56th session of the UN Statistical Commission in March 2025. “Belstat has already received recommendations for its implementation and we will carry out revisions,” she emphasized.
The agency is also working on other areas. “In particular, we continue to work with administrative resources. The priorities include their use in calculating the consumer price index, distributing the number of employed population by salary level and retail trade turnover,” she said.
