MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – MAZ, one of Belarus' largest mechanical engineering companies, won a tender to supply large-capacity electric buses to St. Petersburg, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov said after a meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin in Minsk on 14 July, BelTA learned.
“The Belarusian company MAZ won the tender to deliver electric buses of large capacity. The Republic of Belarus did not manufacture e-transport before. But it learned to do it and just won the tender,” Alexander Beglov said.
The governor added that before that, an agreement was concluded with MAZ to assemble electric buses in St. Petersburg.
Today St. Petersburg uses Belarus-made buses (1,900 units) and trolleybuses (240). New deliveries are in the pipeline.
