Belarusian commodity exchange seeks to enhance cooperation with Oman

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Closer interaction with Omani business circles, especially small and medium-sized businesses, could become a powerful driver of growth for Belarus-Oman exchange trade, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Oman Abdullah Masoud Humaid Al Harthy said as he visited the central office of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) in Minsk, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

According to the consul, small private companies play a crucial role in Oman’s economy, and their involvement in BUCE’s electronic trading platform would lay a strong foundation for establishing long-term trade relations and fruitful exchange cooperation.

"I believe that small and medium-sized businesses are the key to the Omani market. Therefore, in order to develop exchange trade between our countries, efforts should be focused primarily on this category of companies," Abdullah Masoud Humaid Al Harthy remarked. "This could include importing Belarusian goods such as powdered milk, lumber, or feed additives, as well as supplying Omani products in demand among Belarusian enterprises, including non-ferrous metals, ferroalloys, organic fertilizers, and marble. The Honorary Consulate is ready to assist in informing Omani entrepreneurs about opportunities to participate in exchange trading and to co-organize any promotional events to discuss exchange trade."

Another promising avenue for cooperation involves utilizing Oman as a trade and logistics hub for re-exporting Belarusian goods to Middle Eastern and African markets. This would provide Belarusian exchange traders with access to a wider audience of potential buyers, preventing limitations due to Omani consumer demand.

"Oman should not only be seen as a target market but as a gateway through which Belarusian goods can enter neighboring countries, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Yemen, and the Asian and African regions. I am confident that, relying on the digital infrastructure of your exchange, we will be able to implement this interaction model," the consul concluded.
