MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Qatar plan to expand cooperation in agriculture and food production, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov held talks with Chargé d'Affaires of Qatar to Belarus Hamoud Saleh Al-Saadi.
The agro-industrial complex is one of the key areas of bilateral relations between the two countries. In January-November 2025, the bulk of exports consisted of skimmed milk powder, cottage cheese (volumes increased 1.4 times), cheese (1.5 times), and fish (supplies tripled). Demand for Belarusian products is growing.
The meeting focused on entering the Qatari meat market. Recently, BelHalal received official accreditation, opening access to Qatar and other regions of the Middle East. Halal certificates will be recognized for a wide range of products.
For the launch of poultry meat supplies, the final step remains: approval of the veterinary certificate form. The draft document has already been sent through diplomatic channels.
Yuri Gorlov emphasized that Belarus is interested not only in expanding the geography of exports but also in deepening cooperation, including through the supply of high-tech, certified products that meet the strictest consumer requirements.
Hamoud Saleh Al-Saadi noted the high level of development of Belarus’ agro-industrial complex, calling it “of global significance”, and praised the high quality of products and the professionalism of international exhibition organizers. He particularly highlighted the interest of Qatari business circles in participating in Belagro 2026 as a platform for concluding concrete contracts and establishing long-term partnerships.
“Citizens of Qatar trust Belarusian goods, and we are ready to increase trade, conduct more visits, exchange experience, and pursue joint initiatives,” the chargé d'affaires said.
He also assured that he would provide comprehensive diplomatic support to accelerate all procedures related to the entry of new categories of Belarusian products into the Qatari market.
