MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) - Belarus and the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) discussed potential areas for enhanced cooperation during a working group meeting at the Great Stone Industrial Park on 28 July, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
The meeting brought together Belarusian Economy Minister Yury Chebotar and Yakutia's First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Fedotov, who serves as the region's permanent representative to the Russian president. Government officials, business representatives, and organizational leaders also participated in the discussions.
According to Yuri Chebotar, the cooperation between Belarus and Yakutia is reaching new heights. “A significant step forward will be the establishment of Yakutian Railway’s branch office in Belarus, which will reduce logistics costs and expand trade flows. Since 2024, cooperation exchanges and business bridges organized by Belarus' National Investment and Privatization Agency and the Entrepreneurship Financial Support Fund have proven effective tools for fostering partnerships and supporting SMEs,” he stated. The minister also highlighted March's successful Belarusian goods exhibition in Neryungri, demonstrating strong interest in Belarusian products. "Our goal now is to establish direct supply channels, bypassing intermediaries,” Yuri Chebotar added.
Key cooperation areas include expanding mutual trade volumes, deepening industrial collaboration, and increasing investments. “We propose boosting supplies of MTZ tractors, Amkodor loaders, BelAZ trucks, and other machinery. Belarusian food products already enjoy strong recognition in Russian markets, and we are ready to increase food and consumer goods shipments to Yakutia. There is also potential for exporting cable products and equipment to modernize the region's power grid,” the economy minister stressed.
The Yakutian delegation was also presented with Belarusian investment opportunities during the meeting.
