Belarus, Russia’s Samara Oblast explore promising joint projects

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich met with Governor of Samara Oblast of Russia Vyacheslav Fedorishchev in Minsk on 21 July, BelTA learned.

Viktor Karankevich stressed that the enterprises of Samara Oblast are well familiar with MAZ cargo trucks and utility vehicles. “In 2024, the Belarusian manufacturer shipped 95 trucks to Samara Oblast. This year it is already 30. We are eager to supply garbage trucks, multi-lift container trucks and offer Samara Oblast not only cargo and utility vehicles but also road construction, logging and other machines,” he said.

Samara Oblast operates more than 80 BelAZ dump trucks. For example, last year three dump trucks were shipped to the Russian region. In connection with the growing demand for quarry equipment in Russia, Viktor Karankevich suggested intensifying work on forecasting the supplies between manufacturers and consumers.

The Belarusian firefighting equipment plant Pozhsnab is working on a number of promising projects in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, Viktor Karankevich noted. "Following a tender, a contract was concluded to supply three toad tankers to Samara Oblast, which will be a good opportunity for the customer to verify the quality of the plant's products," the deputy prime minister said, adding that this will be an additional step in the development of trade and economic relations with Samara Oblast.
Mogilevliftmash also participates in most of the tenders to ship elevators as part of the projects to overhaul residential buildings and construct new housing in Samara Oblast. Over the past five years, Samara has purchased more than 2,400 Belarusian elevators. In 2024 the deliveries exceeded 600. We propose to consider setting up joint manufacture of elevators in Samara Oblast as the demand for such products will remain in place,” the deputy prime minister said.

The trade and economic relations between the parties gained momentum, Viktor Karankevich said. Yet there are still many areas to explored, he added.

The deputy prime minister also invited Samara Oblast to take part in INNOPROM.Belarus which will be held in Minsk from 29 September to 1 October 2025. He expressed confidence that everyone will find a reliable partner at this exhibition.

The Belarusian side also aims to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Samara Oblast in agriculture, the supply of building materials. “Belarusian organizations also have considerable experience in designing industrial, infrastructure and social facilities, including in the Russian Federation. Belarus is open to any proposals for expanding ties. We will consider any proposals of our partners in the shortest possible time,” the deputy prime minister concluded.
