MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - About 1.8 million tonnes of peat were extracted in Belarus in 2025, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry following a meeting of the Council of the state production association Beltopgaz with the participation of Energy Minister Denis Moroz.
Peat industry organizations extracted about 1.8 million tonnes of peat, which will make it possible to fully fulfill production targets in 2026, as well as provide all consumers with peat fuel.
Approximately 800,000 tonnes of peat fuel products (briquettes, dried peat) were produced, along with 190,000 tonnes of non-fuel peat products (baled high-moor peat, potting soils, cover soil). 28% of non-fuel products were exported.
A number of projects were implemented in 2025. These include the construction of a peat baling workshop at the Turshovka branch of the peat briquette plant Usyazh, the implementation of a pilot project at the peat briquette plant Ditva to replace a steam tube dryer and also the modernization of a boiler house with the installation of a boiler unit with a pre-furnace at the peat briquette plant Starobinsky branch of MINGAZ (the construction and installation work of the first phase of the facility’s construction has been completed).
