Belarus plans to build second pulp and cardboard mill

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Plans are in place to build a second pulp and cardboard mill, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said as he addressed the Belarusian People’s Congress in Minsk on 19 December, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Turchin spoke about the most significant investment projects included in the draft social and economic development program.

“We are planning to build a second pulp and cardboard mill in the timber sector, a polypropylene plant in the petrochemistry industry, a precision aluminum casting facility in metallurgy and a high-power tractor production facility in mechanical engineering,” Aleksandr Turchin noted.

These projects are expected to increase value-added per worker in the manufacturing sector by 1.4 times."Science must contribute to enhancing the efficiency of the real sector. The foundation has been laid. This includes 12 state scientific research programs, 20 science and technology programs, and the state program for innovative development. Their implementation will increase the science-intensity of GDP to 1% and raise the share of innovation-active organizations to 45%,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
