MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The heads of the transport authorities of Belarus and Pakistan have had a working meeting in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus.

Transport and Communications Minister of Belarus Aleksei Lyakhnovich and Federal Minister for Communications of Pakistan Abdul Aleem Khan discussed cooperation in transport and logistics, namely transportation via air, road and rail. The ministers explored the most promising areas of cooperation, with a focus on practical steps to increase interaction.

“Belarus is our highest priority partner. We are confident that the ongoing visit of the Pakistani delegation will be historic and will help bring our nations even closer together. The creation of reliable transport links will be highly instrumental in promoting trade and business contacts between the two countries,” Abdul Aleem Khan said.

In turn, Aleksei Lyakhnovich remarked: “We need to develop a sustainable system of transport and logistics services to facilitate trade between Belarus and Pakistan.”

The Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus developed logistics routes to deliver goods to Pakistan using the infrastructure of international transport corridors. Close cooperation was established between logistics companies of the two countries. Aleksei Lyakhnovich called the liberalization of the road transport market one of the important conditions for creating an effective cargo transportation system between Belarus and Pakistan.

In November 2024, during the official visit of Aleksandr Lukashenko to Islamabad, an intergovernmental agreement on international road traffic was signed. In February of this year, a trilateral memorandum of understanding was signed between logistics companies of Belarus, Russia and Pakistan.
