MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Japan, Yevgeny Lazarev, met with Belarus’ Honorary Consul in Hokkaido Prefecture Masato Matsuura, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Tokyo.
During the meeting, the parties discussed ways of developing cooperation between Belarus and Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture in various fields. The conversation also touched upon the prospects for increasing supplies of Belarusian goods to Japan.
The most promising avenues for bilateral trade between Belarus and this Japanese prefecture were identified during the discussion.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Japan were established on 26 January 1992. The Embassy of Japan in Belarus has been operating in Minsk since January 1993. The Belarusian Embassy in Japan opened in Tokyo in June 1995.
