Belarus is interested in establishing joint ventures with Cuba

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) -  Belarus is eager to establish joint ventures with Cuba, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister  Viktor Karankevich said as he met with Cuba's Industry Minister  Eloy Alvarez Martinez on the sidelines of the INNOPROM. Belarus international exhibition in Minsk on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

"Since the Soviet era, Cuba has been a reliable and friendly partner for us in all areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. We always communicate in a very warm, familial manner and build our friendly relations solely on openness and complete trust. The agreements and communication at the level of the heads of state elevate the bilateral relations to a high level. We must do everything possible to ensure the agreements outlined by the leaders of our countries are implemented. Government bodies and economic entities are focused on furthering mutually beneficial cooperation, expanding the range of product supplies, establishing joint ventures, and enhancing industrial cooperation,” Viktor Karankevich said.

He emphasized that the official visit of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to Belarus this year gave additional impetus to the development of relations between the two countries.

"We are eager to consider all issues that are of interest to the friendly, brotherly Cuba," Viktor Karankevich stressed. He emphasized Belarus is committed to taking all necessary measures to develop bilateral relations and improving the quality of life of citizens of both countries.

Eloy Alvarez Martinez, in turn, also highlighted the high level of friendly relations with Belarus. “We are prepared to develop and expand cooperation between our countries. Belarus is a very important partner for Cuba. We always acknowledge the support that Belarus provides on international platforms by condemning the blockade of Cuba. Cuba also supports Belarus in the international arena. This confirms the fraternal relations between our countries," he stated.

Cuba aims to increase industrial production, including that of food products. "In this regard, we attach priority importance to our relations with Belarus. We are using our stay in Minsk, among other things, to tour enterprises to find new potential projects and expand trade and economic ties. We have already visited MTZ and Atlant. We have agreed that we will find ways to implement specific projects that will allow Cuba to advance in industrial development," the Cuban minister said.

"It is a great honor for us to represent Cuba at this important event [INNOPROM. Belarus]. It was very interesting to learn about the innovative developments and see the transformation processes taking place in the manufacturing industries,” Eloy Alvarez Martinez concluded.
